金属スラッジとは？

金属スラッジは、生産プラントや工場などの製造・生産工程において、機械などを稼働していると必ず生じる金属粉や錆といった余剰物を指します。機械の稼働中は金属スラッジがどんどん増えていくため、適切な処置が必要です。

金属スラッジによる問題について

金属加工現場においてワーク加工時に注意が必要なのが錆の発生です。本来なら錆びる材質ではないアルミやステンレスにも錆が発生することがあり、その原因は錆びやすい鉄を加工した際に生じる微細スラッジです。

クーラントタンクに滞留した鉄製の微細スラッジがクーラント液に混ざって循環し、ほかの材質に付着することで、もらい錆やアルミ錆が発生する可能性があります。そのため、1台の機械で複数の材質を加工する現場では注意が必要です。

また、クーラントが適正に管理できていないことも錆が発生する原因になります。適正に管理できていないクーラントは時間の経過によってクーラント液が劣化し、腐食の進行と同時に増えたバクテリアによって防錆性能のある有効成分が食べられてしまうことも。そうなると防錆性能が落ちてしまうので、加工ワークが錆びやすくなります。

また、クーラント液の劣化が進行すると、通常はアルカリ性のpHが酸性に傾き、金属が錆びやすい状態になります。
