Prior to the introduction of the coolant filtration system, the problem was the occurrence of defective machining during ceramic grinding. The cause of the defective processing was not known, and the coolant fluid was prone to become turbid, resulting in severe putrefaction and foul odors, making maintenance difficult.
Although a centrifuge was installed, maintenance was time-consuming and labor-intensive, so the use of the centrifuge was given up. We had to have an industrial waste contractor vacuum out the waste.
What triggered the introduction of this system was the use of a filtration system that was brought in as a test machine. However, after using the equipment on a test basis, their thinking changed drastically. The turbidity and contamination of the coolant fluid, which had been an issue, was filtered out thoroughly, and the water was transformed from sludgy to clear.
Since the introduction of the filtration system, dressing of grinding wheels has become unnecessary. The number of defective grinding wheels, the cause of which was unknown, was also reduced to zero, and it was found that the cause of the defects was unfiltered sludge.
The coolant no longer needs to be replaced at all, which used to be done four times a year, reducing maintenance costs and labor. The result is improved accuracy, zero defects, and longer equipment life, among other benefits.
Coolant filtration equipment is used to filter sludge generated from equipment. There are a variety of products available depending on the intended use, so it is important to determine "whether the coolant filtration equipment is suitable for the purpose" and "whether the equipment is suited to the characteristics of sludge.
